Hotel Riu Touareg - All Inclusive

Super hôtel , il n’y a pas de pharmacie à l’intérieur de l’hôtel ni aux alentours prévoyez une trousse à pharmacie et des Doliprane. Il y a plein d’activités proposer à l’hôtel et sur la plage un vrai all in mais rien autours. L’hôtel est magnifique le service impeccable la propreté rien à redire La ville est à 30 min en voiture. Les taxis sont négociables

Grande resort in posizione isolata ( a 35 km dal paese Sal Rei ) ma su una spiaggia lunga e bianca .Tre piscine e lettini gratuiti ache in spiaggia con ombra di palme. Molta gente ma basta cercare di evitare gli orari più affollati per pranzo e cena ( il cibo è di media qualità adatto soprattutto a clientela nordica ). Ottima pulizia e cordialità del personale.

Recently got back from a stay here and have left feeling relaxed and rested as needed! When reading a lot of reviews a lot of people appear to forget they’ve booked to stay on a small island off the coast of Africa and still expect the same as a busy European tourist hot spot… the rooms are more authentic than ‘run down’, the air con works great in the room with additional ceiling fan to help cool down after a hot day… yes it would be great if everywhere was air con but also you’ve paid to go away to a hot holiday destination, enjoy it!! I would recommend a taxi from the airport to avoid delays waiting for TUI coaches etc… costs about €30… and quickens check in at hotel! Showers are hot, toilet works well, rooms are cleaned daily and water topped up… any requests made through the app were seen to that day. The pools could do with some more attention purely for a lot of issues with broken tiles, drain covers etc. that caused cuts to feet etc… saying this, the staff every morning were around the pool making repairs and cleaning constantly. Food is standard all inclusive buffet style food, for fussier eaters…. Chips, toasties, pizzas etc… and for the not so, variety of meat and non meat options, vegetables, sauces, cheese selections, fresh fruit and salads etc… there are restaurants that can be booked through the app but do this ASAP when arriving and check daily as new times come up randomly and gets booked quick, the Italian was perfect and would recommend to mix things up a little. Drinks are also standard, the beer is easily drank through day and frozen daiquiris are a delight! Can’t mention spirits as not drank whilst there… online mentions the amount of bars but fails to mention 4 are all within the same ‘main square’ which does leave you feeling a little restricted on where to spend your evening as it gets very busy and a little overwhelming some nights with lack of seating to suit the size of hotel… another bar elsewhere would have been nice. Also no single use straws so bring a reusable one or a cup with built in if needed. Adults only section was never clearly explained this is an additional item you have to upgrade to and not allowed to go into if standard wristband.. however we did see the pool and bar area here and looked busy for the size of. Beach is wonderful and clean, lots of beds, small local seller huts selling all you would expect for souvenirs… including cups with straws which are recommended for getting larger drinks from the bars and self service throughout the day. Shops are available for bits you may need, snacks, toiletries, clothing, souvenirs, however very expensive! Complex is huge… never stayed in a hotel like this before and did seem a little sparse in areas with most point of interest being centrally located with lots of rooms far from any of this… gets the steps in I guess!! Pro: - Air con in room - Clean rooms - Water provided in rooms - Balcony large and good view - Beer and daquris goo

This hotel is probably the worst Rui hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed at many. This was our first family holiday with our son and we was very excited. When booking we were given a free room upgrade to a partial sea view. Check in was great no issues hotel looks lovely when you first arrive. We were given room 9044 this was a ground floor room we requested this due to no lifts and a pram we thought it would make life easier. When we got the room key we went to our room and was shocked when we walked in the room was very dirty. For such a beautiful hotel I couldn’t believe they had rooms like this we requested a cot before the holiday I also asked the receptionist on check in if one was available he said one would be put in the room a few hours later we asked a member of staff near our hotel room he told us to call reception but the phone was broken a maid knocked on a while later to say she was sorry and would bring one. 20.30 still no cot arrived so we walked the long walk to reception eventually a cot was brought to the room. High chairs in the snack bar and restaurant are filthy constantly have to chase staff around to clean the tray once we have found a high chair and carried to our table across a busy restaurant. Food is constantly the same I have looked at Lot of reviews of people saying this is because there is so much choice but lamb chops chicken and beef on the grill everyday no different flavours just the same meat each day is repetitive again I expected so much more from a Rui hotel. Kids area is falling apart cig dimps in the sand and much more my 2 year old picked up a sharp piece of pool tile and attempted to put it in his mouth. Lots of missing tiles lay around. No drinks close to the kids so warm water all day for us. Then 2 days before we were due to leave we woke up to the worst smell in the room water dripping down the wall the fuse box is on and a very very floor. I called reception at 07.00 and explained what was happening I was told someone would attend at 07.30. 08.00 still nobody had arrived my toddler was distressed in his cot Because of the water on the floor we couldn’t let him out. I called reception again the lady I spoke to knew nothing about my phone call and said she would send someone after waiting with a hungry angry baby we decided we would go for breakfast and speak to the TUI reps. At 09.00 I spoke to a rep who spoke with a receptionist I explained the room smelt very bad and we wanted to move she told us we would need to wait until 14.00 for a room to become available but there were many keys still behind the desk this left us with no room all day again another bad day for my son who can’t have his nap in a cool room. 14.30 a room was finally available But that day for me was totally ruined I wouldn’t rate this hotel anywhere near a 5 star I have been in better 3 star hotels.

This hotel was great value for a last minute bonus week. We booked a superior room which was not given to us upon arrival. After a couple of calls to Reception and quite a long wait for our luggage, it was sorted. The rooms are very dated with only one plug socket. I had read this on Tripadvisor and packed a 4 way extension lead. The food was good and plenty of it. Drinks were readily available and of a good standard. Evening entertainment was so so, but the team did put a lot of effort into it. Please bear in mind there is absolutely nothing outside of this hotel. It was great for a weeks relaxing holiday, don’t think I could have stayed any longer for this reason. The staff were very friendly and helpful, considering they work long hours they all had smiles on their faces and seemed happy to help. Had no problems finding a sun bed, as we don’t like sitting in the same place for the whole holiday. The daytime activities crew were very entertains. The gardens were beautifully kept. Overall we had a good time.

We had two rooms in the adults area of the complex (a double and a suite) both were clean and spacious. Was difficult to find sunbeds together by the pool but plenty on the beach. Staff from checking in, room cleaning, restaurants and bars were all really pleasant and helpful. The adults pool and bar area were great but general areas could are starting to look a little tired eg the main pool, jacuzzi and swim up bar had some tiles missing. We would recommend this hotel but can only comment on the rooms in the adult area not the family or standard rooms Also would recommend downloading the RIU app and booking into the restaurants in advance

Where to start......like most people we had been on the go for over 12 hours and gone through the slowest security ever we arrived at the reception about 230pm. The reception is a sweat box...which platinum hotel would not have air conditioning in reception. You get told to leave all your suitcases unattended by the doors whilst you queue at reception like cattle to be called forward....to be told your room isn't ready...not good...but stuff happens. You go to get something to eat. Snack bar is cramped, tables unclean, rust on the counters and adequate food. A further walk around the pool shows cramped pool and lounger areas with unruly teenagers causing chaos. Not a good impression. Return to the reception to be told the room is still not ready and to wait a further 30 mins in the sweat box of a reception. They take your booking paperwork and bugger off with it probably to a cave at the back whilst you lose 2 pounds in sweat alone. You have a quick wander and realise the family room is 3 floors up with no lift... Cape Verde is poor and I accept differences but no lifts is unforgivable by Rui. Whilst I wait again to get my room, booked 12 months prior I am now 2 hrs into my stay and now pretty pissed off with a distressed child and upset wife and trying not to show my anger. I try again to sort the room out only to be told the room is not ready. Cue the Tui Rep, Rochelle, who was very helpful but is obviously used to this chaos. We get told the room has a problem, then they actually don't have a room at all and nothing can be done. Fortunately, Rochelle managed to get us transferred to the Rui Palace, back near the airport where we started. Toureg had apparently rung through and booked our room at the Palace which was ready for us. We get to the Palace and no room ready at all. Now 5 hrs after we landed. However, the Palace was like a Palace in comparison to the Toureg. Spotless, polite staff, amazing food and great pools. Faultless...a bit more expensive but light years ahead of the Toureg. I've tried to find a positive about the Toureg but I just can't as I would be lying. There will be some that like it. Each to their own but whilst at the Palace we heard horror story after horror story about the Toureg. Choose it at your peril. It should be closed and not in the RUI portfolio. It is appalling

Just returned home from a 10 night stay at the RIU Touareg and I was pleasantly surprised. Having joined the Facebook group and seen the horror stories of people getting poorly and the thousands of people complaining, I was considering changing the holiday all together up til the day before we travelled… I’m glad I didn’t. The check in process was a fine albeit a little humid after 8 hours of travel but all good. We were a family of 4 but they had no family rooms left so we were assigned 2 rooms next door to each other in block 5. The room was hard to find due to the curious room directions and numbering system but when we got there, we were fine. The rooms aren’t anything to write home about but the bed was comfortable, the air con worked and that’s all that mattered. The grounds of the hotel are big and everything is spaced out evenly across the site. The main pool (saltwater) was our main base most days and we struggled to get sunbeds, especially in the shade if we weren’t quick off the blocks in the morning however, we did quickly catch on that not a lot of people realise that there’s beds on top of the “castle” in the centre of the pool so we managed to grab some shade up there everyday. The pool was fine, a little busy but it’s the school holidays. The swim up bar was hit and miss depending on who served you and was a little lairy come late afternoon but we enjoyed our time there. The beach is amazing, one of the more picturesque ones I’ve visited which is a statement considering I’ve been all over the Caribbean including Mexico and Jamaica. The fact that you can’t swim safely there is a real sadness but hey, it’s nature and I’m not one to mess with it. The main buffet restaurant was OK. Nothing special and the kids struggled a lot to find anything that wasn’t pizza and chips but it wasn’t an issue. If you told me when I was 10 that I had to eat pizza and chips everyday for 10 days I’d have been over the moon. Nobody in our party were sick. The staff were amazing here and really make the place special. Everyone was friendly and happy to be there by the looks of it. The hotel is remote and I mean, remote. Like the first hotel on Mars. There’s literally nothing around for miles but we knew that going in. Would I stay here again? Potentially yes but not in the height of the summer holidays.

Reading other reviews from just days ago I find it hard to believe we stayed in the same hotel! Clean…. Are you joking! Let the pictures tell the truth This is not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are filthy dirty with mould growing in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The tile grouting can’t have been cleaned in years, there is dust, cobwebs and dirt on every surface, nook and cranny! Having originally checked into room 7023 we found dirt everywhere and mould growing in the bathroom and bedroom. Dodgy paint job clearly trying to hide bigger problems. Having made a complaint we moved rooms on day 2 only to find mould growing in the shower, the fridge not working and the safe not working. There was also a strong odour of paint indicating again they were covering things up. Found reception staff rude. Overall the rooms are tired and dated. Food - very poor quality. Badly presented. Why are they serving chips for breakfast?!?!?! Dishes are not always labelled correctly so be aware if you have allergies or dietary requirements. A La carte restaurants are disappointing…. All buffet apart from main course at the Cape Verde restaurant. There are also lots of cats roaming around and they do enter the restaurants and beg for food. Guest are not discouraged from feeding them. I personally hate cats so meal times were often unenjoyable. Reception staff - most of them are rude snd unhelpful Cleaners - don’t think they understand what that means Restaurant staff - most are friendly and we’re lovely towards my little boy. Hotel grounds - they are kept beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my walks around. The resort with the little one. Sun loungers - dirty and looking tired. Beach - didn’t spend too much time on the beach but it was beautiful to look at and the presented nicely. Overall, this hotel was not to our standards. I know many will disagree and maybe their rooms were wonderful but I guess it’s what your used too.
